Today, I want to share some exciting news with you!
WE HAVE A SITE FOR GREEN MOUNTAIN SCHOOL!
Six years ago, a group of parents realised the limited access to holistic and experiential learning opportunities in the upper Shoalhaven region.
The opportunity to provide their children with a well-rounded education that goes beyond traditional classroom learning did not exist.
They decided to do something about it.
They explored alternative educational options that prioritise experiential learning, outdoor activities, and a child-led approach and decided to create this community-led school themselves.
This initiative reflects 6+ years of collaborative, pro-bono efforts by Shoalhaven parents, educators, internationally renowned educational researchers, architects, town planners, designers, creatives and community development practitioners.
That’s over 8000 volunteer hours contributed to realising this school, for the hundreds of families who have registered interest in enrolling their child at GMCS.
We are coming to a pivotal place in realising Green Mountain Community School.
The rural school site is positioned between Berry, Cambewarra and Bomaderry. It includes open paddocks, a tree-lined creek and views of Cullinghutti, Moeyen Hill and Cambewarra escarpment, the ‘Green Mountains’ that our school is named after.
We will email again next week as we begin to share more about our school site and what we have been busily planning to share with you!
